Digital Literacy & Cybersecurity Awareness in Trashi Yangtse! Our APNIC Foundation–funded project “Enhancing Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity Awareness in Eastern Bhutan”, led by the Department of Information Technology-JNEC, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, Royal University of Bhutan in collaboration with the Government Technology (GovTech) Agency, Royal Government of Bhutan, continues its journey across the east. Highlights from Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag 1. Bayling Central School - Over 400+ students and staff engaged in hands-on sessions on digital literacy and safe online practices. 2. Bumdeling Gewog - 100+ community members (farmers, elders, youth) actively participated in discussions on online safety and digital literacy. 3. Rigsum Gonpa - 50+ monks joined the awareness program, sharing real-life concerns about scam calls and learning how to safeguard themselves. Each session was filled with curiosity, open dialogue, and eagerness to adopt safe digital habits. Thus, reminding us that digital empowerment belongs in every school, monastery, and community. Countdown Update: With Trashi Yangtse completed, 4 Dzongkhags covered and only 2 more to go! The other project team is already on the move to Mongar and Lhuentse to continue Activity 3 (Digital Literacy Workshops) and Activity 4 (Awareness Campaigns). Our heartfelt thanks to: • Local leaders, teachers, and community members for their warm hospitality and active participation. • APNIC Foundation and ISIF Asia for funding this initiative. • Bhutan CIRT for their continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a safer, digitally literate, and cyber-aware Bhutan, one Dzongkhag at a time.
