Continuing Our Journey in Trashigang Dzongkhag! As part of the APNIC Foundation and ISIF Asia 2024 - funded project “Enhancing Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity Awareness in Eastern Bhutan”, the Department of Information Technology-JNEC, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, in collaboration with Bhutan CIRT, has successfully completed the next leg of Activity 3 (Digital Literacy Workshops) and Activity 4 (Awareness Campaigns). Highlights from Trashigang 1. Jampeling Central School – Over 350 students and staff actively participated in sessions on digital literacy skills and cybersecurity awareness. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone for a powerful engagement. 2. Bartsham Chador Lhakhang (Sangdag Gyelpailing Monastery) – More than 50 monks joined hands-on sessions exploring safe digital practices, phishing awareness, and mindful technology use. The exchange of tradition and technology was inspiring and deeply impactful. 3. Sakteng Gewog – Around 50 community participants came forward to learn practical digital literacy skills and cyber hygiene. Many stayed back for personal guidance, showing strong interest in applying safe practices in daily life. The sessions covered: • Practical digital literacy skills (Google Workspace, browsing skills) • Cybersecurity awareness (phishing, scams, password hygiene, safe social media) • Scenario-based discussions personalized to local needs Countdown Update With Pemagatshel and Trashigang completed, only 3 more Dzongkhags remain: • Mongar • Trashiyangtse • Lhuntse Together, step by step, we are bringing digital empowerment and safe online practices to schools, monasteries, and gewogs across Eastern Bhutan.
