Enhancing Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity Awareness – Summer Progress Update
We are excited to share a significant milestone under the APNIC Foundation-funded project “Enhancing Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity Awareness in Eastern Bhutan.” During the summer vacation (30 June – 14 July 2025), our dedicated technical team and faculty members worked tirelessly to develop and refine key resources, ensuring that our upcoming workshops and awareness programs are impactful and relevant. Summer Achievements: ✔ Multimedia Awareness Content: Posters, pamphlets, and brochures designed for community awareness campaigns. ✔ Digital Literacy Workshop Modules: Practical, application-based content on MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and foundational digital skills. ✔ Cybersecurity Guidebook: A user-friendly resource focusing on safe internet practices, secure social media use, phishing prevention, and more, customized for Bhutanese users. Training of Trainers Completed! To validate our content and strengthen delivery capacity, we conducted training sessions for 39 participants (12 staff and 27 final-year students). The primary goal was to ensure the materials are effective, easy to understand, and ready for larger audiences. The trained group will now train over 340 first-year students at Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, expanding the reach of digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness on campus. This initiative not only prepares the ground for community-level workshops but also builds a sustainable network of peer trainers. Next Steps: Roll out Digital Literacy Workshops in six Dzongkhags of Eastern Bhutan. Implement Awareness Campaigns through multiple channels, including social media and offline activities. Conduct Knowledge Sharing Workshops for technical stakeholders. Special Thanks to our committed technical team, faculty members, and students for their hard work and enthusiasm.
