We are excited to announce that our research team, led by Younten Tshering from the Jigme Namgyel Engineering College has successfully completed data collection for the project funded by the Annual University Research Grant (AURG) Royal University of Bhutan! The team—comprising Tashi Yangchen, Tashi Tobgay and KJ Wangchuk, all faculty and staff members of the Department of Information Technology-JNEC—worked diligently over the past few weeks to gather valuable insights from across multiple RUB colleges. Project Overview: This research project focuses on assessing the feasibility of adopting Open-Source Software (OSS) within the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). The study aims to evaluate current levels of awareness, usage, and challenges associated with OSS among RUB staff and students, as well as explore the potential for developing a university-wide OSS policy. Through interviews and surveys, the team gathered quantitative and qualitative data that will help shape the future of OSS adoption in RUB. The next phase will involve analyzing the collected data to provide actionable insights and recommendations. A huge congratulations to the team for their dedication and hard work!
